Join NCMG guides and Methow Valley locals Stephanie Williams and Adrienne Schaefer for a ladies only Backcountry Ski Clinic. This 2-day intensive course takes place in the heart of the North Cascades and is designed to give women the tools and techniques needed to take their skiing to the next level. By creating a fun, supportive environment our hope is that women leave feeling more confident in their ability to make decisions as a member of a group and understand what it takes to become a self-sufficient backcountry skier.

We will begin each morning at the quaint and cozy Mazama Store where we will discuss the logistics of the day over coffee and treats. From there we will head to the end of Highway 20 where we will fire up the snowmobiles and venture into the mountains.  Our goal once we are out, is to work one on one with each participant on a variety of skills including track setting, skinning techniques, route finding and proficient skiing in a variety of conditions. Our evening will be spent back in Mazama where we will load up on a scrumptious dinner, review video footage, give feedback, and plan our route for the following day.

NCMG Women's Backcountry Ski ClinicIt should be noted that this is not an Avalanche Course, and an Avalanche Awareness or Level 1 Course is recommended to get the most out of this experience. Participants should be comfortable skiing off-piste in a variety of conditions and have spent some time ski touring. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding your experience level or ski ability.

The cost of the program will be $550 which includes:

  • use of snowmobiles
  • use of avalanche rescue tools if needed (beacon, shovel & probe)
  • lunch
  • dinner on Saturday night
  • NCMG trucker hat
  • lots of laughs and learning
