This year's Ortler Tour will be one to remember.  Boot-top powder, blue skies and an amazing group of ripping skiers all combined for the perfect trip in the Italian Alps.  Check out the video below for a little snapshot of the fun.

Spring?

According to the calendar it is officially Spring but it's still winter in the mountains here in the Northwest.  Once again we are enjoying the late season skiing that La Nina always tends to deliver.  To celebrate/mourn the last days of winter I headed out skiing with Backcountry Season Pass holders Bob and Larina Davis, my friend from Leavenworth Shannon Fallon, and my wife.  We spent the day heli touring near Silverstar and Kangaroo.

A break in the storms

We've had a bit of a break in the La Nina storm cycles lately.  This has allowed us to enjoy some mid-winter sunshine and ski some steeper lines due to the good stability, but we're looking forward to when the snow starts flying again.  Extended forecasts are calling for a sizable dump starting next week.  We all know how reliable extended forecasts are but we are going to be ready.  Last year's big dumps started around the end of February and didn't let up until May!  Are you ready?

After digging out from yet another big storm cycle that dumped snow on the Methow, it was time to explore the skiing on the hill right above my house.  I rounded up a small posse of friends and we had one of the best days of lowland skiing ever.  If its this good down here, you can imagine how good it is in the mountains right now!

Paul and Larry recently had the good fortune to guide eight lovely women from the Methow Valley for four spectacular days in mid January.  They spent the time at the NC Heli yurt.  Needless to say, it was an amazing trip, and the skiing wasnt bad either.....

January Storm Cycle

We are in the middle of a huge storm cycle.  Not much time to post pictures and video but here's a quick video edit of some of the recent skiing around Washington Pass.  Hopefully you have gotten the chance to enjoy some of this amazing snow.  If not, it's time to wax up those skis and head to the Pass.

Deep!

It's getting pretty deep out there.  Here's a short clip from today, Friday December 30, 2011, on Delancy Ridge.  I was able to shoot more video but I don't have time to edit it right now.  I'm scheduled for another day in the "White Room" tomorrow and need to get to sleep.  Stay tuned for more......

"White Friday"

The day after Thanksgiving should be called "White Friday" not "Black Friday".  At least thats what Bob and Larina Davis and I decided after feasting on a day of deep, gluttonous powder on Delancy Ridge.  The trailbreaking was deep and allowed us the opportuntity to work off the Thanksgiving meal.  I didnt really get to shoot a ton of video, but here is a short sampler that shows the quality of the skiing.

It's on!

Several recent snowfalls have officially kicked off the ski season here in the North Cascades.  A few of us got out into the mountains to poke around this weekend and were more than a little pleased by what we found.  Forecasts are for bunch more snow this week!  With skiing like this and early season rates, give us a call if you are interested in getting some of this for yourself.
