Liz and Steven Sloss from DC joined Jeff for one of the last alpine programs of the season. They headed up to the Silver Star Glacier for a three day Crevasse Rescue and Glacier Travel Course.
This Fall the snow started flying a little early. Most of the rock climbing routes are covered in snow and there was over a foot of new snow above 8,000'.
The group spent two nights camped at the high alpine col near Burgundy Spire. This gave them easy access to the Silver Star Glacier and beautiful views of the surrounding peaks.
The trail breaking was deep but the weather was beautiful. The team climbed to the Silver Star Saddle and went through anchor building and crevasse rescue practice.
The team made an attempt on the summit pyramid but the winter conditions turned them around just shy of the summit.

In the morning the team packed up and headed down to Fun Rock to work on rope ascension skills.
Liz and Steven did a vey good job of picking up the necessary skills for glacier travel and crevasse rescue. They should be set for their next big adventure. We wish them luck.
