Lew Miller
South Buttress - Cutthroat peak - Sept. 15th, 2007
| |
| Rounding out a great summer of climbing Lew
Miller came back up to the North Cascades for one last summit
before the summer weather drew to a close. |
| |
| Lew opted for the South Buttress of Cutthroat
peak, seen here as the obvious buttress in the center
of the photo. |
| |
| After a beautiful hike up through Whistler
Bowl, Lew and Larry climbed up the approach gully. This
tops out at a notch at the base of the South Buttress.
Here Lew climbs the last rock to reach the notch. |
| |
| The route is long involving lots of 4th
and low 5th class climbing. Higher on the route comes
some 5.7 crack climbing. Here Lew works through one of
the crux pitches. |
| |
| Higher on the same pitch lew jams his
way up a beautiful hand crack corner. |
| |
| On the summit...We were in T-shirts
all day! |
| |
| Hiking back down through Whistler Bowl,
we looked back up at Cutthroat and reminisced about some
of the great climbs we did this summer and began planning
next years trips. |
