Ruth Mahre, Mike Rossi and Sarah Moles

| |
| Wenatchee climbers Ruth Mahre and Mike Rossi
organized a climb of Forbidden peak along with a friend Sarah
Moles from Salt Lake city, UT. Scott and Katharine teamed up
to guide the trio on one of the 50 classic climbs of North America
- the West Ridge. |
| |
 |
| Due to a washout from some flooding over
the winter, the approach was a few miles further than
normal. This temporary bridge is at the site of one section
where the river flowed right down the road bed. |
|
| |
 |
| The weather could not have been more
pleasant and even with a few extra miles, the crew was
all smiles. |

 |
| The classic view of Forbidden peak on
the approach to Boston Basin. The West ridge is the airy
left hand skyline. You can just see the start of the snow
coulior that leads to the notch in the ridge where the
rock climbing begins. |
|
| |
| |
 |
| The morning was cool and the team cramponed
to the base of the coulior where they roped up.. |
|
| |
 |
| There was a bit of snow on the start
of the route, though they were soon able to switch into
rock shoes to enjoy the wonderfully exposed climbing on
the ridge crest. |

Basin in the background. |

 |
| At the summit the two rope teams enjoyed
a leisurely lunch in the sun with exceptional views all
around. |
