Evan Freedman
Goat peak - December 28, and Delancy Ridge - December 31st,
2007

| |
| Evan came to spend the holidays in the Methow,
but made sure to get some time in the backcountry during his
stay. He teamed up with Larry for several days of skiing during
some ideal conditions. |
| |
 |
| The first day they began with some ski
touring on Goat peak. With a nearly effortless ascent
of 5000' they found themselves staring down some beautiful
glades on the north side of the peak. Here Evan rips through
the trees on the first run. |
|
| |
 |
| Here Evan demonstrates what they mean
on those signs that say "Keep your tips up". |
|
| |
 |
| They took one more run on the north side
before dropping the full 5000' back down to Mazama. The
tour ended with a short skate across the nordic trails
right back to the NCMG office. |
|
| |
 |
| Several days and even more new snow
later, the pair spent the day on the sunny slopes of Delancy
Ridge. Just below the ridgecrest proper, Evan drops in
for some really good skiing. |
|
| |
 |
| It was so good, we had to take several
more. Note depth of skin track. |
|
| |
 |
| Delancy offers several distinct main
sections and we skied a run on each of them. Here Evan
takes the skiers' left run. |
|
| |
 |
| The skier's left line finishes with lots
of fun, open, playful terrain. |
|
| |
 |
| More and more perfect turns... |
|
| |
 |
| With the sun getting low and the snow
staying cold, we decided that we'd better go back up and
just get one more.... |
