High Angle Rescue course


Situations:
Short approach, quick retreat. We may hike as much as 40 minutes to the base of one of our teaching sites.
Clothing: Items that are breathable, allow flexibility, resist wind and water, and based on a layering system.
** Some of the clothing and gear below are season dependent especially in regard to the amount of snow and ice encountered on the approach and climb. Please confer with your guide about current conditions and/or if you have any questions.

Approach shoes– A pair of comfortable sticky rubber shoes is ideal.

___

Clothing – Appropriate items for climbing and the day's weather. Cotton is fine in most circumstances

___

Harness – Belay loop recommended

___

Helmet – Must be specific for climbing/ mountaineering.

___

50 meter single rope

___

Old rope for practice ground demonstrations 15-30 meters in length

___

Standard rock climbing rack - including wired stoppers, tcu's and cams and free biners.

___

3-4 shoulder runners, 1 double shoulder legnth runner.

___

5 munter (pear shaped)locking biners

___

2-3 Cordelettes- 5 meters of 7mm cord (5.5 mm spectra or equivalent okay)

Rappel/ belay device

___

Pack – Large enough to hold everything on this list.

.Food – Lunch and snacks. An adequate amount for a high-energy day.

___

Water bottles – Carry at least 2 quarts. Hydration bladders recommended.
