North Cascades Mountain Guides offers avalanche courses based on the American Institue for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) curriculum, as well as private avalanche education experiences located at Washington Pass.

There are several factors that make NCMG avalanche courses unique.  This first factor is location.  These avalanche courses are based out of Mazama, Washington and field days take place near Washington Pass.  These field days are often accomplished with the use of snowmobiles or a snowcat.  This allows students the ability to see a very diverse snowpack and real avalanche terrain.  The other factor that makes these courses unique is the instructors.  NCMG instructors have spent decades working as avalanche professionals.  They have worked as helicopter ski guides, avalanche forecasters, high-altitude climbing guides and ski patrol.  Not only can they help you better understand the avalanche phenomena but they can also give you practical techniques for getting out and safely enjoying the winter environment.

Whether you are a first time backcountry skier/rider, a guide in training or a seasoned vet looking to brush up on your avalanche skills, NCMG has the course for you.  If you are looking to take your skills to the next level check out our AIARE Level 1 and AIARE Level 2 courses or brush up on your skills with an Avalanche Terrain Assessment Tour or Rescue Refresher Course.
